The Canadian portion being the Canadian Gulf Islands in British Columbia. Homes here range from small traditional cottages to large elaborate homes. Condos and townhouses are popular as well. The geography is hilly so many of these homes have breathtaking views of the harbor and sound beyond, with some having views of the downtown area as well as the ocean. Brown Island, just off of Friday Harbor has homes that are only accessible by small boat, and golf carts on the island itself. It also has a small marina for the homeowners.
The other main harbor area of San Juan Island is Roche Harbor. It is mainly a resort area. People come here to relax at the Hotel de Haro. It's also a destination for the yachtsman with it's medium sized marina and convenient proximity to the hotel and it's amenities.
